Day 7 - Never let yourself down !

This is the day that will leave a deep impression on most of us especially the students over in china & a day that may be memorable to one of my classmate!  The main highlights for today were the visiting trip over to the new campus of Wuhan University of Science & Technology as well as the BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for Diyanah!

After our OIE class in the morning about China in terms of their present and past politics, we were gathered up to board a coach to make our way to the new campus of WUST! You can imagine how big is China, when we had to travel for about 75 minutes just to get to their new campus.

Main entrance of the new campus!

We were first brought to an exhibition filled with specimens all about the human body. Once there, you can definitely feel how proud the people are of this exhibition and adding onto that, there is also a specially made book for important or famous figures to sign their name off!
a REAL baby !
Ohh! Did I mention that all the specimens in this exhibition are REAL human body parts? It gave most of us a chill down the spine when we heard it was REAL!

Next, we were brought to a classroom, with a group of students welcoming us with applause. Our group was requested to have a presentation about Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic as well as what's an OIP about. As it was planned to be presented in chinese, Sheila was not quite available for this presentation.
Unexpectedly, this mini exchange programme with the students at this new campus, was in fact fun and enjoyable! Other than both parties presenting about their country and their own campus, we even had some 'singing' session!

Everyone engrossed in the presentation!
Thanks for your kind attention! =D

After the interaction with the students, we were brought to the new campus's library. It's one of the largest library in the province! The building structure and design was really fascinating!

While we were leaving the campus, we came across many many students in soldier uniforms! I have been told before that such disciplinary training is actually compulsory for all students! One of the local student leaders also told me that they sometimes have to stand under the scorching sun for hours!

Adding onto our entire exciting and interesting day, it was also one of our classmate's birthday! Of course we cannot disappoint her and let her go through her special day without any celebration!
All of us gathered in her room!
Look at her smile!
Reflections:
Out of the highly anticipated new campus tour, the event that I want to reflect on today isn't anything about how great the new campus is, or how fascinating their facilities are. I am going to talk about the specially tailored compulsory programme that applies to all china students. That is the disciplinary class, being trained like a soldier, wearing uniforms, somewhat like our National Cadet Corps in Singapore. But for the china students, this is something they have to go through in school no matter what.
Discipline, I would not dare to say that Singaporeans are people without discipline, because I have known many people with great discipline! However, there are also a majority bunch of friends that I know, is without much discipline of themselves. To be honest, this includes me as well!
Things such as procastinating, or sometimes trying to delay stuffs, are things that are somewhat commonly happening on me. Despite my never-ending attempt to stop such things from happening, it just kept happening over and over again! So I guess you can call me a guy without much discipline.
Having a low discipline mind, is totally a disadvantage in life. It brings you further away from your goals and dreams that you want to achieve in your life. Disappointment is definitely at the end of your path.
Rest assured, I hope throughout this entire trip, I can become one with great discipline. Hopefully I will not let myself down and not be a huge disappintment to people who cares for me, especially my family.
